Welcome
to your very lst serving of Fuckin Adorbs! This new column will continue, in
print form, what we started on our short-lived radio programme of the same
name. In this series we will discuss a milieu of topics popular in the zine
world, including: zine reviews, zinester profiles, important resources &
events, as well as our humble takes on such imperative & ongoing narratives
as: Why e-zines are not zines…the
importance of owning your own copy machine…& why scissors & glue sticks make such
great Hanukkah gifts! Tune in to every new issue of Gag Moi for all your zine
needs! Send all your questions, concerns, & items for review to: GagMeWithA@gmail.com

Zine Reviews!
Skrrrl #3 by Jolie
Noggle
This zine is totes
cute & reminds me of something straight outta the Riot Grrrl days of the
9Os – which is,
apparently, when Jolie started to make zines
(badass, I know). Digest-sized, bright yellow with the cutest little squirrel
on the cover (drawn by Jolie’s hubby Jamie), I really loved reading this zine – my only disappointment coming from the fact that
it was only 2O pages with no nitty gritty writings from the zinester behind the
zine. A cool interview with Rad Girlfriend Records (in which they offer a call
to submit demos), some art (a local artist in Indiana & yours truly, though
I’m not saying my art is the best part!), a story by two boys (my least
favorite part but not bad per se) entitled The Bookstore, a cute introduction
into Jolie & Jamie’s Record Label, Cat Trap Records & what they offer
& what’s to come to a little ad page. My favorite part was def the
handwritten inside front & inside back covers – an intimate welcome & goodbye to the happy
readers of Skrrrl #3.
I really enjoyed this zine & am quite happy I could be a part of it. <3 (Deirdree P.)

Piltdownlad #7—The
Murky Realm by Kelly Dessaint
This is the first zine I’ve
read cover to cover in a crow’s age, the last one probably being Piltdownlad #3!
Mr. Dessaint tells the tale of how his parents met, leading up to his birth,
& does a damn fine job of it! For Kelly, writing a good story is like shooting pigs in a
barrel. The cover is available in either dark blue or purple cardstock (I got
the blue one) & was typed on his Olympia Manual. He’s got the skills to
construct a good story & had me pretty damn engrossed in the plot &
characters…it’s not just his writing style, it’s the
way he brings the story on home. I recommend picking up any of his zines, or
his new novel, “A Masque of Infamy”, & sitting down in a big, stuffy,
oversized chair at Starbucks & sinking your teeth into it! (Steven P.)

Zine Profile!
This is the part where we get to brag about one
of our own zines! Every issue will showcase a different profile & give you
the behind-the-scenes scoop! This issue we take a look at I Wanna Believe: Conspiracies
& Shit! — MC Sunflower Jones’ most
recent comp zine, printed in June of 2Ol3. “Conspiracies & Shit” is right –
pry into the Denver International Airport’s secret lair of the Illuminati (who
just inducted Kanye via Jay-Z), crop circles, from a cross-dressing J. Edgar
Hoover to Marilyn & JFK, chemtrails, from Oprah Winfrey as the vision quest
tour guide to the moon landing hoax to how to make your very own tin foil hat!
Chock full of conspiracy artwork from around the globe –
this zine is perfect for anyone in the
know.
Bonus Facts- l) The faces of Mt Rushmore on the cover appear
to be wearing gas masks, but are in fact wearing Sleep Apnea masks! 2) Tim
Biddle, artist conspiratornaire, is the only non-Amerikan contributor…but
the paranoid limey still used all Amerikan imagery! 3) All of the factoids
spread throughout the pages were brought to you by real grad school research
papers!

www.WeMakeZines.ning.com –
this may be a no-brainer to some, but if you haven’t heard of this site, now
would be the time to look it up! Our favorite site to post calls to submit,
